PLAYER↴ Name: Groove Contact: https://www.plurk.com/wefeelgroove Other Characters: N/A CHARACTER↴ Character Name: Hinawa Age: 35 Species: Human Canon: MOTHER 3 Canon Point: Right before her death in Chapter 1 Character Info: http://earthbound.wikia.com/wiki/Hinawa http://earthbound.wikia.com/wiki/Tazmily_Village http://earthbound.wikia.com/wiki/Leder#Leder.27s_story As far as she knows, Hinawa's story is fairly simple. She was born and raised in idyllic Tazmily village, then as a teen she met and fell in love with her now husband, Flint. They were wed, they built a house, they had children. Hinawa dedicated herself to being a wife and mother, supporting sheep farmer Flint and bringing up Lucas and Claus in a loving home. In reality, she was one of the few refugees of a collapsing civilization who fled to the Nowhere Islands in a last ditch effort to preserve humanity. She was only a child at the time, and like the other white ship passengers, she was brainwashed into forgetting her true past and believing that she had always lived in Tazmily. The whole business with the white ship will most likely never come into play, since by her canon point, the Pigmask Army has just arrived and hasn't shattered Tazmily's carefully constructed illusion. Before her arrival, Hinawa and the twins were visiting her father, Alec, who lived on the outskirts of the Sunshine Forest, a large expanse to the north of Tazmily. She and the boys were returning home when the Pigmask Army first attacks, fire bombing the forest and converting its wildlife into robotic abominations. Lost in the chaos, they are attacked by the Mecha Drago, a once docile creature turned berserk by the Pigmasks's modifications. Hinawa sacrifices herself to ensure Lucas and Claus's safety, sending them off on their own while she tries to distract the beast. Personality: Since she dies so early in the story, much of her personality is garnered through the reactions of the people who knew her. It's very clear that she was cherished by everyone. The entire town is shocked at the loss of Hinawa, and it destroys her family. She represents the loss of innocence of Tazmily village, and without her, everything starts to fall apart. It also says a lot that she continues to have a huge impact on the story despite only appearing as a spirit or in flashbacks. When Lucas is lost in a field of sunflowers, she orchestrates his rescue by appearing to him and leading him safely home via a conveniently placed pile of hay... left there by Alec after seeing Hinawa in a dream telling him to do so. She even de-escalates the final confrontation between Lucas and a brainwashed Claus by breaking through the latter's mind control and reminding him that he is her beloved son. She is calm and gentle in everything she does. Even in being stern with her children, such as when she insists Lucas change out of his pajamas before going out to play, she never seems cross and in fact even acts playful about it ("Then you can stay inside, in your pajamas, for the rest of your life."). Considering she's raising twin boys, she's got the patience of a saint. She's never seen losing her temper, and as far as the player knows, she never has. Hinawa is fiercely loyal to those she loves. This is, of course, obvious in the fact that she sacrificed herself to save her children from the Mecha Drago. It occurs off-screen, but it seems apparent that she is type of person who would not hesitate to put herself in the line of fire if someone she cared about was in danger and not think twice about it. Her protective and caring nature extends to others outside of her loved ones, if the town's adoration of her is anything to go by. She will absolutely put aside her own fears and anxieties if someone else is in pain and needs comforting. Even if she's unable to really do anything, she will at least extend an offer to be a shoulder to cry on. Hinawa comes from a world that knows no grief, no hardship, no fear. She is, as a result, painfully naive. She's never had any reason to mistrust or hate anyone, so why would she start now? She could be very easily manipulated by someone with less than pure intentions, since she trusts without question. She's not completely dumb, of course: someone who openly tries to hurt her or someone she cares about will not be on her good list. Even so, she may still try to find any little bit of goodness in such a person, because surely no one can be truly evil, right? ...right? She is also a stranger to violence and crime. There are thieves in Tazmily, but they never steal anything. The village has a jailhouse, but it's never been used. Hinawa herself feels bad for stepping on a cricket by accident. She doesn't know how to fight or defend herself and would be slow and reluctant to learn. Tazmily is a farming community with a mid 1800s America feel to it- no electricity, no cars, dependence on agriculture and living off the land, etc. She's a country bumpkin for sure. She is, more than anything, a wonderful, loving, doting mother. She lives (and dies, ha ha) for her family. She is utterly devoted to being the best wife and mother as she can, and she excels at it. She even returns from beyond the grave to help and comfort Lucas and Claus. She is the best mom. That's really all there is to it. Abilities: Hinawa is a totally normal, squishy, mundane human, so she has no supernatural abilities. She is, however, SUPERMOM. She cooks. She cleans. CARNIVAL↴ Soul Colour: The warm, golden yellow of a sunflower, aka sunglow Ideal Jobs: Line cook Concessions Animal Keeper Tailor Nurse Mom Relevant Experience: Line cook/Concessions: Hinawa is a fantastic cook, and it's definitely something she enjoys doing. Even on vacation visiting her father, she's in charge of making the meals, and in the letter she writes to Flint, she tells him she'll make him his favorite dish when they return. They're not unbiased, of course, but Flint and the boys think her cooking is amazing. Animal keeper: While her husband is the farmer, Hinawa is no stranger to caring for the animals, from mundane tasks such as feeding them and cleaning out the stables to special occasions like the yearly shearing and helping ewes give birth. Tailor: In a tiny farming village like Tazmily, you can't exactly run out to the nearest department store for new clothes, so it's not much of a stretch to assume that Hinawa has some basic tailoring skills in order to repair clothing, or even sew new outfits. Nurse: When you have two rambunctious little boys, you have to know at least a little about cleaning up cuts, scrapes and bruises. She's got some basic first aid knowledge for sure, and would be willing to learn more. MOM: No matter what official job she has, Hinawa is more than likely going to dedicate the rest of her time to caring for the carnival's younger employees. And, okay, some of the older ones, too. Nothing brings her greater joy than caring for others. Reason for Joining: Hinawa did not die by the Drago's jaws. What really happened, is that she acted as a distraction so her boys could escape. Before it could kill her, however, she pushed through a particularly dense patch of foliage and ended up in the carnival. Still panicked and afraid for her children, she begs the nearest person, the ticket clerk, for help. They radio about the 'crazy lady by the gate', and she's brought to the ringleader. Hinawa doesn't know what to make of this strange place, or this strange woman, but she knows she needs help and they're all she has right now. Please help me save them, I'll do anything. She is not aware of what "anything" entails at first, but a year of service doesn't sound so bad since, as far as she knows, the twins do escape unharmed. ...Still, it's going to be a very long year without them.
